I've got a featured artist spot on this great lineup of artists, coming this September 6th to Philly's Arch Enemy Arts!

I'm finishing up my paintings now and am looking forward to visiting Philly again soon.  I can't believe it's already been a year since I was there.

Look forward to kitties, wolves, skulls and many more coming from me....

I wanted to include a gathering of as many of my favorite legendary and mythical beasts as I could in this painting, and they are: the ceryneian hind (the sacred, Greek deer of Artemis) , Huginn and Muninn (the Norse ravens of Odin; "Thought" and "Memory" or "Mind"), Fenrir (the Norse wolf who destroys Odin), a griffin (the legendary, powerful creature that was a mix of beast and bird), an English folklore white hare (said to be the form witches take at night to look for prey or the restless spirits of broken hearted maidens who haunt their unfaithful lovers), and Ratatoskr (the Norse squirrel who runs up and now the world tree to carry messages between the eagle and the worm).

I'm Here For Your Heart and I'm Not Leaving Without It

"I'm Here For Your Heart and I'm Not Leaving Without It"

Inspired by agriozoophilia; the obsessive love of wild animals

I chose agriozoophilia for the theme of this painting; the obsessive love of wild animals, which is definitely something I have!

I was also inspired by Valentine's Day, love, jealously, hatred, confusion; really all the mixed emotions that this holiday can stir up.

The animals are all experiencing different emotional states within or without relationships, and the title is both literal and figurative.

The show boasts yet another amazing lineup, including Buddy Nestor, Heather Gargon, Dan Harding, Caity Hackett, Jackie Gallagher, Jasmine Worth, Michal Brodka, Mike Wohlberg, Suzanne Falk, Zoe Williams and many more, including myself.

Amphisbaena

Cory Benhatzel and Heather Gargon

"Amphisbaena"

mixed media (acrylic on birch panel, polymer clay, faux fur, etc)

$400.00

(details)

This is the collaboration between Heather Gargon and I for Modern Eden's Allied Forces show.

I did the painting based on Amphisbaena, the mythical two headed creature, and Heather made the cool bat on the frame.

I really love Heather's work, so I was very excited when she agreed to collaborate with me on this.  I love the way it came out!

It's available now at Modern Eden, along with many other amazing pieces.

Doubleparlour's solo show is incredible also, and is showing now too!

The Reaper Carnival

"The Reaper Carnival"

acrylic, graphite and silver leaf on birch panel

8 x 10 inches, plus frame

2012

SOLD

Here's my new painting for the "Carnival of Terror" show this Saturday at Gristle Tattoo and Art Gallery in Brooklyn.

There is a vulture, horned owl and albino raven perched atop a conjoined goat skull.  The scythe blades are silver leaf, which I really love.  This is only my second time using leaf, and the first time using silver leaf, specifically.  I'm sure it won't be the last though, I love it!

The info for the show is here on the card, the artist list is amazing!
