Coming Soon...Fauna!

I've got a featured artist spot on this great lineup of artists, coming this September 6th to Philly's Arch Enemy Arts!
I'm finishing up my paintings now and am looking forward to visiting Philly again soon.  I can't believe it's already been a year since I was there.

Look forward to kitties, wolves, skulls and many more coming from me....

Please email archenemy arts(at)gmail(dot)com to join the preview list.

Departure

"Departure"
acrylic on birch panel
8 x 10 inches, framed
2013
$500.00
SOLD

Here's another newly finished painting that is off to it's new home, thanks to one of my new collectors.

Bats perch upon the backs of gray foxes, perched upon human skulls.
The Ouija planchette, the mystical oracle, a portal to communication with the departed, dangles a scrying crystal.  The sweet pea flowers symbolize "departure" in Floriography, the Victorian language of flowers.

Light the Way Home

"Light the Way Home"
acrylic on birch panel
5 x 7 inches, framed
2013
$300.00
SOLD

A black cat finds rescue from the dark woods when an owl lights the way home.

Black cats are often the most in need of adoption in shelters, because they are often thought of as bad luck.  As a former mom of a black cat, I can assure that there is absolutely no truth to that myth.  My sweet little black cat was adopted from an SPCA, and was one of the greatest loves of my life.

Here's my painting for "Rescue Me" curated by Cody Raiza, an animal-themed art event in promotion of pet adoption.

I was very honored to be asked to participate in this show.  Not only are animals in general my deepest love, I've had many adopted cats that I can't imagine my life without.  I think adopting through shelters is a no brainer, but obviously there is still the need for awareness on this subject and there are always wonderful creatures who are desperately looking for their forever homes.

Part of the sales from the artworks will go to help shelter animals in need, so please consider purchasing  from this show or making a donation!

Friday and Saturday September 6th and 7th at The Egan, inside the Magoski Arts Complex in Fullerton:
223 W Santa Fe Ave
Fullerton, CA 92832
Here's the flyer, and more info is available HERE on the event's page on Facebook.

The Moongazer

"The Moongazer"
acrylic on birch panel
5 x 7 inches, framed to 7 x 9 inches
2013
$300.00
SOLD

The Moongazer appears at dusk, taking her place amongst the foxgloves and mushrooms, deep in the magic forest.  As she sits, staring, hypnotized by the heavenly orb, her horns glint in the light and her feathers twitch like her tail; as if with a mind of their own.  Her friends, the little mouse and two headed squirrel light a candle for her, and keep her company on her nightly ritual.  Upon the first rays of sunlight, the spell is broken, and the Moongazer disappears.

"The Moongazer" will be a part of Modern Eden gallery's "Curiosities" show, opening August 17th in San Francisco.
