Fly With You

"Fly With You"
graphite on postcard
4 x 6 inches, framed
2014
$90.00
SOLD

Here's my postcard for Modern Eden's second Wanderlust show, opening this Saturday, December 12th.
It's the first time I've worked with just graphite on paper in a very long time, and it was really fun.  I love how soft the image came out, and I'm very happy with it.  I plan on doing more pencil pieces in the future.

The Fox and The Cat

"The Fox and The Cat"
acrylic on birch panel
11 x 14 inches plus frame
$800.00
archenemyarts@gmail.com for purchase inquiries

Here's my painting for Arch Enemy's upcoming "Wait for the Moon" show opening this Friday, 12/12/14.
Each artist chose a Grimm's fairy tale to interpret, and I chose "The Fox and The Cat".  The tale was simple: a fox boasts that he has many tricks and a cat confesses that he has only one.  The fox is caught by hunters and the cat climbs a tree and escapes them.  The tale is supposed to teach that in times of danger, one option is more effective than having many at one's disposal.

I'm not sure how helpful or true that tale is, but I wanted to paint the fox and cat in my own interpretation, so here, the ghostly fox protects the cat; the foxes' skull is seen at the bottom of the painting.  Also, the fox is shown with several tails, like the Japanese kitsune, with each tail representing more luck.

Just A Worm

"Just A Worm"
acrylic on birch panel
3.75 inches diameter framed to 7.5 inches diameter
2014
available HERE

Here's my contribution to this year's "Crazy 4 Cult" show that opens 12/12/14 at Gallery 1988 West in Los Angeles.

I chose The Worm from Labyrinth (one of my favorite childhood movies) who so frustratingly miscommunicates to Sarah the direction to the castle.  Personally, this little guy always drove me nuts despite his cuteness, so I decided to focus on making him more adorable.

The Decision

"The Decision"
acrylic on birch panel
4.5 x 6.5 inches oval framed to 8.5 x 12 inches approximately
$350.00
2014
info@gristletattoo.com or 347.889.6422

Here's my painting for Gristle Gallery's "Secret World" show.
"The Decision" is a rather personal painting for me; the symbolism of the fox ghost beast having two heads deals with feeling two ways about something or someone; the feeling of being pulled in two directions at once and having to make a decision.
And sometimes no decision is possible.

I'm honored to have my painting included alongside an incredible lineup of artists' work in this show which also marks the gallery's three year anniversary.

From Within Us

"From Within Us"
acrylic painted wooden birdhouse
7.5 x 7.25 x 5.5
2014
available HERE

Here's my contribution to Modern Eden's "Home" show; entitled "From Within Us".  The imagery is very personal to me; barn owls depicting aspects of life/death/birth, amongst human skulls and other bones.  One side has a juvenile barn owl, another a baby, and the front is the adult (parents).

In this world, animals such as these magical owls have outlasted "The Uprights" (humans) who have destroyed each other with their savage wars and the creatures are left to a peaceful existence.

It was a fun challenge painting these wrap-around scenes on a three dimensional object; it was my first time doing so besides a nesting doll set several years ago.  I hope to do more three dimensional objects in the future, and hopefully take it even further to making my creatures three dimensional.....

A Rebirth

"A Rebirth"
acrylic on birch panel
4.5 x 6.5 inches oval framed to 8.5 x 12 inches approximately
2014
(SOLD)

Here's one of my newest paintings, "A Rebirth".
A tribute to spring where a white fox sits over the altar of one of the fallen "Uprights" or humans.  Flowers spring forth from the skull, the life cycle beginning again.  Blood drips from the Upright's eye socket and a butterfly perches upon the pink blossoms.

The Astral Ones

"The Astral Ones"
acrylic on cradled birch panel
12 x 12 inches
2014
$900.00
available HERE

Here's my painting for Modern Eden's "Universe: The Art of Existence" curated by Warholian's Michael Cuffe.

For this piece I wanted to step a little bit outside my comfort zone and paint my ghostly animals as constellations among the stars in the sky.  There is also a reference to Hecate, in the triple moon symbol at the top; the triple face goddess.

The show opens this Saturday, April 12th in San Francisco and boasts an impressive lineup of artists' interpretations of the universe and cosmos.

Bejeweled Beauties

"Bejeweled Beauties"
acrylic on birch panel
8 x 10 inches framed to 12.5 x 15 inches
2014
$575.00
SOLD

Here's my painting for "Indelible", opening April 5th at Aunia Kahn and Russell Moon's gallery, Alexi Era.
The show features a collection of art that reflects upon the idea of permanency.  For my piece, I chose to portray some white foxes, one of them winged, which have gemstones in their foreheads.

This is my first time showing at this gallery, and I'm honored both to be included and to have my image as one of those on the postcard and promotional materials.

Formula 86

"Formula 86"
acrylic on birch panel
4.5 x 6.5 inch oval framed to 8.5 x 12 inches
2014
$350.00
inspired by "The Witches"
available HERE

Here's my painting for "The Subtle Art of Pop Culture" at Gallery 1988, opening April 11th, which also marks the 10 year anniversary of the gallery.

We were asked to choose whatever movie we wanted to be inspired to create our piece from, and I chose one of my absolute childhood favorites, "The Witches", starring the gorgeous Anjelica Huston.

Pictured is Liebschen, the Grand High Witch's black cat, and Luke in his mouse form with the bottle of Formula 86, which the witches used to turn children into mice.  Formula 86 was named thusly because it "eighty-sixes" children.
